World of Warcraft 2.4 Patch Day

peonculture.com

By Casey Blakeney

"The Fury of the Sunwell" 2.4 patch is currently being finalized in the United States servers today, with the European side following tomorrow. Included in this new patch is a whole new area, 5 man dungeon, and 25 man raid instance. Also, there are multiple fixes, "nerfs", and other assorted crap.

Please go to wowwiki.com to view the entire list of additions and changes.

OUR TAKE: Patch day is always an exciting one for World of Warcraft fans. The most amusing thing is to see those perma-shatt-stuck level 70s finally get off their ass because a new area is explorable. Our official advice is to avoid the new area for the time being, since it will likely be overloaded on every server. Wait a week or two, or log in at the wee hours of the morning.

I thought WOW was bad for the huge downloads, but then I tried Guild Wars. That made me run back and hug my WOW game discs gently and with much adoration. As much as I can't stand the huge downloads, I not know that it can be much worse. GW is proof of that. At least WOW doesn't need to download every single time you enter a new area.

Though I'm not entirely sure what you mean by every couple weeks. I've only had I think 2 patches since I started playing in November. Maybe that's something they've changed since you were regularly playing?

Yet again a monster Download that must be done to play the game... This was one of my biggest issues with WOW when I tried it... a 30 Min install off Disk and then 40 Min of patching... I came close to tossing the whole thing before I played... they every couple weeks more patching before playing... They need to address the systems ablity to doenload all patches while you are online over time.
