Harmonix recently announced that their new baby will be hitting the Wii on June 22nd of this year in the United States and Canada. It was released late in 2007 for the 360 and PS3, so this is a little late but still welcome news for many Wii-only fans.
Initially, Wii owers will only be able to buy the game in bundled formats. This bundle includes the game, microphone, drums, and wireless guitar.

| OUR TAKE: It's not all sunshine and lollipops though. While Rock Band for the 360 & PS3 gets our official "Best %*^% Game of 2007" nod, the Wii version is currently not recommended. The Wii's lacking online system, as well as small available storage, means that one of the most exciting features may be gimped on the Wii. Rock Band has a solid lineup of packed-in songs, but the downloadable content is where the true potential of the product is. Until Harmonix finalizes a plan to service the Wii owners out there, then people should consider investing in the currently far superior versions instead.

But this game isn't really marketed at the casual market. It requires a significant investment. In fact, it almost mirrors the price of the system. The nature of this franchise actually goes against the marketing of the system.
With it "currently" being a gimped version of the game, then you have to wonder how successful it will actually be. Your "core" market. who is more likely to make this kind of investment on one game, is also more likely to own more than one console. Chances are likely that the "core" customer isn't going to buy a limited version like this. Will the more casual market be able to carry this very expensive franchise? Only time will tell.
But a recommendation is nothing more than that. I personally would never recommend a gimped version of any game. And as of this moment, that's exactly what the Wii version is. |

I agree the Functionality of the PS3 and 360 versions downloadable content is cool... the extra price tag for these systems that really are marketed and supported for more than the casual gamer... were it this market the WII excels.
